Gourmet tour

in the heart of Paris

Montorgueil guided tour

  • The Halles neighbourhood : place where the biggest market in the capital city of the Middle Ages used to be located until it moved to the South of Paris in 1969 to become the International Market of Rungis
  • « The Belly of Paris » : nicknamed as such by Emile Zola who was fascinated by this abundant universe of Les Halles, former sustaining neighbourhood of the city and still very animated
  • Rue Montorgueil : used to be the street where fishmongers came to sell their catch from Normandy and North harbours, today it is a good street for shopping
  • The oldest pastry store : the Stohrer company, whose founder was the pastry chef of King Louis XV, opened in 1730 and is a place not to be missed in rue Montorgueil

Car-free street in the centre of Paris, the Rue Montorgueil, lined with old Paris signs like Le Rocher de Cancale or L’Escargot Montorgueil is still very animated. Not only is it famous to all the Parisians but also very popular for its terrasses where you can meet over a coffee or simply open the door of one of the numerous food stores to get tempted.

Let your connoisseur tour guide share with you his love and knowledge about French gastronomy. During this tour you will discover a very French delight : the art of preparing a good meal. To this end, you have to go through a precise ritual which starts with stolling along the stalls, observe, smell, discuss, then follow your desire and eventually pick the products… without neglecting to taste !
